United Way Warehouse Sale~ November 10th 2018
Initiated and hosted by Rhino Foods
100% of proceeds are going to a great cause the
United Way of Northwest Vermont.
Rhino Foods has been around since 1981 founded by Mr Ted Castle who advanced from being an all star Hockey Player at UVM slapping pucks into a net, to slapping together some great products.
And through a continuous effort to improve the environmental and Social impact to Society has advanced the company to the B Corp Certification in 2013.
Mr. Castle was also the winner of the Prestigious
2018 B Corp Annual Hal Taussig Award !!
And has passed these tradition along to others like his son Rooney.
Rhinos in the wild are fearless creatures & their 1st reaction when something approaches is to charge 1st, & ask questions later, defending and supporting their family at all costs regardless of opponents & it would seem that this would explain the name they chose for their Company which has led to their success..
And we congratulate them on that achievement, along with many others things including todays event.
So please excuse us as we "Horn" in on them as we join together with others to improve the business and the Social environment of our community.
B Corps are for-profit companies who have set goals to make a positive impact on society, workers, the community and the environment. They undergo extensive and regular reviews of their practices in order to be certified, and include some great Vermont companies like Rhino Foods, Cabot Creamery, Ben & Jerry’s, 7th Generation, King Arthur Flour, Lake Champlain Chocolates and many more.
There are now over 2,600 companies in 60 countries committed to making the world a better place.
This weekend’s event was an example of just one of the many ways B Corps impact their communities
As depicted in this motivational video about Ⓑ Corps.
OK lets get this show on the road !!

When my feet hit the floor I peeked out the window and everything looked white as snow, because it was, & we had about 4" inches of it along with a nice layer of ice. Then about that time I heard the town plow go by so I knew I would be able to break camp without a problem and I did.
By the time I reached Stowe the roads were just wet from there and on over to the Industrial Park in Burlington.
Located Rhino Foods no problem & now it was only sprinkling rain along with only a few snowflakes when I arrived.
Shortly after I arrived Rooney came and let me inside, and showed me where I could set up for business so I started going at it.
It did not take too long to get my basic setup done
The Rhino employees were busy getting things set up as well.
Ashley was set up next to me selling the Cracker cuts and Pete & Gerry's organic eggs and all I could think of at that point was, I need an Omelet right about now..
The Popular Song by "Stealer's Wheel" popped in my head I was between a Cheese Omelet on one side and Rhinos Chocolate Chip Cookies on the other so
"Omelet's to the left of me and Cookies to my right and here I am
"Omelet's to the left of me and Cookies to my right and here I am
"Stuck in the Middle" .
So as the flag was about to drop it was time to finalize my set up, so I did.
There was quite a line of people waiting to come in and once they opened the gate it was a flood of people for about 2 hrs or so, then the crowd was down to normal for the rest of the day
The Cracker cuts were a huge hit and before the day was over they were sold out, I also gave my CC display cheese to Ashley after getting approval from Rooney so that was contributed to the cause as well.
As Things were winding down Ted and Rooney came over so I could get a picture of the 3 of us behind the table.
Ashley next to me did a great job all day working very hard for the project.
( Insert Applause Here )
So shortly there after most everything was sold out so a little after 1:00 I folded the tent and headed back to the ranch.
I spoke to Rooney as I was packing up and asked him how the day went and he said there was over $15,000.00 raised for the United Way, what a great effort by everyone !!
So a big round of applause for
The Cabot Farmers for Their Generosity, the other Vendors, workers, and of Course Rhino Foods
It was a great day and glad I could be a part of it.

Lets get the show on the road.
Got to the location a tad earlier than I wanted too but at least it was not a problem getting through the crowd to get set up
Got in and found my spot
There was hardly anyone there so that made it easy, on my part anyway.
Got my basic setup done and then I had some time to walk around and see who else was there.
A few more vendors had made the scene by now.
My neighbor across the aisle was from the village of Cabot.
"Rhapsody Tempeh" which is an Indonesian Soy Bean based protein dish
which I had never tried and still haven't.
"Sweet Doe Gelato" from Chelsea VT was across the aisle too, makers of Goats Milk products like Ice cream etc. never had a chance to partake of that either.
But enough of that since they were about to drop the flag for the start of the event so I had to finish up my setup and get ready to serve some of the
"Worlds Best Cheddar" and "Chatter" to promote our great brand.
Everybody is saying make America "Grate" Again, but if you are on a tight schedule and just want to use a delicious time saver Cabot has got you covered.
The shreds are "Seriously" good, and no need to "grate".
As Bessie the heifer drops the Mic and walks off.
Neighbor to my left was Sonia's Salsa so my snacking was taken care of .
They are a local vendor as well from Jericho VT. some great all natural and healthy Salsa, I preferred the Hot one myself.
Biblically "Joshua fit the battle of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down"
but Locally, Sonia brought the bottle from Jericho and the Salsa came came tumbling down and it was "Grate" as well.
Traffic flow was strong and very busy the whole time, so lots of interaction the entire day.
So at the end of the day I folded the tent and headed back to home, when I left the house in the morning it was @48° and raining off and on, when I started back home it was about 39° and raining in Montpelier, but as I was nearing home I hit some slushy snowflakes.
And of course living in the NEK when I pulled into my door yard it was 32° and snowing ... Go Figure !!...
Made it home safe and sound which is the main thing & I had a very rewarding day and glad I was able to represent the farmers and be a part of it.

Harvest Platters for the Harvest Dinner? Duh ?
The very talented chef once again had a nice Cabot Cheese Spread and a great cheese carving.
So much cheese and so little time !
There was a long line from opening to close with lots of great comments about Cabot and our hard working farmers.
Another great time had by all and this year was busier than last year.
I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it.
The young lady with the skiing shirt was a jinx since I ran into snow on the way home bumwad !!
