Some Beach, Guess Where?
It's
Bretton Woods Resort  in NH.!!

Featuring the "Worlds Best Cheddar"
~

Been looking forward to working the Bretton Woods Beach Party for a while now, carefully watching the long term weather forecast hoping things would warm up a tad before event, but to no avail, it wasn't meant to be.

Hopped in my Van at 6:30 AM  to head over and it was 14° so not exactly beach weather.

Heading into Greensboro it was looking like January, not Spring time.

By the time I was getting into Bethlehem NH it wasn't much better, but it had warmed up to a balmy 19°.
There were a few cars at the golf course so they were either there as wishful thinker's, or had came by to eat breakfast and pretend they had a Tee Time.

When I arrived and got direction to my set-up spot at the mountain and was walking out to it, I was thinking, uh oh they said I was to be on the back porch of the Main Lodge but I was not, I was on a side porch of a building right at the bottom of the exit trail, which actually offered better results for the event, but not for my comfort, but I would just have to suck it up.

The other Vendor who was to be beside me backed out and went inside the building where the only ones there were there just to go to the bathroom..:-)
Building in the picture below.

It was barely a porch just wide enough for the table and for me to stand behind it, but that was about it.
It had warmed up to 20° now, but there was a steady breeze blowing which made it difficult to keep things on the table so I had a minimal amount of things on there, but I did not have much choice

A little later on I figured out that my Patriotic bowls I had chosen were a little too wobbly for gloved tasters to poke around in, so I dashed (ok I just walked fast) out to my Van and took out 4 others I had with better bottoms, so I replaced the original bowls with some Black and White "Holstein" bowls (Thanks Mark)

I also found a small roll of Gorilla tape in there too, so now I could hitch my sign-age down without worrying so much about them blowing off.
I had printed out some wine and cheese pairings sheets and taped them to an old table sign to hide  my cuber/work area, plus provide some info about beer pairings etc instead of just saying it goes with any beer that has foam on the top.

I had also brought my propane "Redi-Heater" from home and I had stopped in Littleton and picked up a bottle of propane
So I placed it under the table to keep me and the cheese from freezing.
The table top, the cheese, and my hands were warm all day making the cheese much more palatable, and my  hands happier, rubber gloves are not exactly the "Mack Daddy" for cold weather.

The temperature hung around 26° all day and the breeze was steady all day as well.

A little girl and her Mom came by the table early and the little girl decorated my toothpick holder so I kept that there all day to.

A little later it started to snow at a pretty steady clip and I was thinking this is the 1st time I've ever had snow in my cheese bowls, but thankfully it did not last long.
The place was very busy all day long since I was right on the exit trail from the slopes on the way back to the lift, so it was a steady stream of people almost all day.
I was sure somebody was going to take my table out as they came by, but I found a 2 X 4 that I placed flat on the ground in front so hopefully nobody would barrel on in.
There were many positive comments about Cabot and I would say 75% of those that stopped had not tasted the legacy line, and those that had were mostly familiar with the Farmhouse Reserve.

There was some very interesting outfits on folks too, they ran the gamut from plastic fish hats to hula skirts

and on to very scanty Bikinis which looked quite chilly..:-)

So it was fun all day long, even up to almost closing time when the Slush Pond event was about to start.

I videoed the 1st one down so all could get a feel of how things were.

I just did a slide show of the few other pictures I took, I wasn't real close to the slush pond so I couldn't get any really good shots, but just enough so you can get an idea of  what a
Beach Party in New Hampshire looks like in March.

Had an uneventful ride home and I got all warmed after a few minutes into my ride, so I had to stop for a  coffee since my eye lids were getting heavy, but I was fine after that and cruised on back to Craftsbury.
I had a good day, it was fun and successful,  in spite of the elements.
Happy to be a part of it.
