"Outlaw Josie Wales", Ooops I meant Josie Kennedy & I were down at the Long Trail Brewery in Bridgewater Corners VT.
Long Trail Brewery has been on the cutting edge of making a locally produced world class beer and ale since 1989, and they still do, and they are extremely community oriented.
Josie and I were there representing another Vermont founded, community oriented company as well, and of course they are also producing a World Class Cheddar Cheese. So we make the perfect pair for raising awareness, and raising funds for a most deserving enterprise, the Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports.

They provide assistance & equipment in order to allow people with varied Physical disabilities to participate in a wide variety of winter and summer sports.
We also provide assistance and the fuel to do the same.
So here is the recap.
Got up at the crack of dawn and after getting throughly "caffeinated" I started loading up the Van and it was a great looking sky, but using an old Sailors saying "Red Sky in Morning? Sailors take warning" so I was guessing we might be getting something other than ideal weather today, but we got this !!

As I was heading down 1-89 near Randolph I had to turn my wipers on so I was thinking uh oh, here comes the rain, but it did not last long
So I had an uneventful drive on down and got onto the site and started to get set up, not ready quite yet, but making progress.
Glad I had Josie there to help get this show on the road.
And what kind of an athletic event would this be without us showing off our Whey Protein powder, which puts all the others out there to shame.
Along with showing our new expanding product line, Cracker Cuts, as well as our exciting and tasty Shreds.
Every one has heard of the dance the "Texas Two Step" right ? well we have that beat because once you try the "Cabot Two State" Shreds
you will be dancing just same, but with a full tummy and you'll still never miss a beat.

And who doesn't like the smell of bacon in the morning as you spread this blended shreds all over your Omelet or whatever else you might like it on, before you head out?
And if someone tells you that you can no longer cut it ! you can tell them I don't have to! because I buy my cheese pre-cut already from Cabot and they are a perfect fit for my crackers or my "sammich" so aaah!

Then we had, along with several others, flavors like the Rustic Pizza Shreds,on display and there was also a bullish chef in the background with a sign saying "hot" I don't know if he was talking about himself, the Pepper Jack cheese, or maybe both in either case, be warned.
We had one little demonstrator show up bragging that he could eat Cabot cheese even though he was lactose intolerant which he felt was God sent and he stayed there all day explaining it to anyone who would listen so we appreciate him showing up..:-)
Our Cabot Cheese Gift Box that was donated to the silent auction was on display with the gifts from other generous vendors as well.
As the earlier bikers started coming in from the 2O, 40 and 60 mile ride things started to get busy the 100 milers would show up later.
Several other Vendors were there I'm not sure who they all were we didn't have time to do any exploring.
Picture of some of the Long Trail folks who were working the beer and food tent.
They worked hard all day and some that worked cooking food on an open fire got soaked later on when the rains came.
The crowd was gathering in front of the band stand to listen to the 2 great bands they had scheduled to perform.
Everything was off to a great start we had some engaging conversations and then as the old saying goes about the best laid plans of mice and men ?, the rains came, which wasn't bad at first however as the rain became steadier people came under the tent to stay dry, talk, and sample cheese.
But as the time wore on and the band stopped playing and the awards ceremony was over, the rain became steadier and harder and it also got chillier so things started to thin out.
Rain Jackets and umbrellas were everywhere.
Then the heavy rain came in and when the Emcee said a passing shower was upon us I thought to myself all showers are passing, they might pass in 5 minutes, or 5 hrs, but they will pass, this turned out to be the later of those two.
So after the heavy rains kept going for a long time water became almost ankle deep in the flat portion of the field and then gathered under and on the stage then the electric circuitry became shorted and being worried about the dangers of that they closed the event a couple of hours early, but even with that they still managed to raise about $ 270,000 for Advantage Vermont so it was a success.
Josie and I had a good fun filled day even with the shortened event
and we were proud to represent the Cabot farmers for this great event.
