4th Annual Oktoberfest in Burlington Vermont
Sept 21st & 22nd
Bringing the Best of the Bavarian Alps to the Green Mountain State
on the Shores of Lake Champlain.
Serving up the Worlds Best Beers and The Worlds Best Cheddar along with Bavarian Games, Music and Dancing.
Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12th October 1810.
The citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event.
The fields have been named Theresienwiese ("Theresa's fields") in honor of the Crown Princess ever since, although the locals have since abbreviated the name simply to the "Wies'n".
Horse races in the presence of the Royal Family marked the close of the event that was celebrated as a festival for the whole of Bavaria.
The tradition kept going until the present day but over here in Vermont we have transformed it into much more than that and subsequently are offering up a
n Oktoberfest Celebration to Top them all, in content and brevity,
Beer and Cheese say no more..!!
Lets Goooo !!!

Looked and felt pretty intimidating when I arrived just getting the tent to stay was a challenge, but did manage to make that happen with tent pegs and lots of weights, when I finished I had over 150 lbs of weight and the top hitched to my Van.

Chicago eat your heart out.

The Kettle Corn Guys were there and in spite of the wind blowing towards them the aroma came back up stream to us uuuummm, But I did not have any, maybe Saturday I'll partake.

And it was a very nice crowd despite the weather, I've never done an event where the bowls and shot glasses would blow over in the strong gust's

And a very joyous crowd too I might add.

She thought it was a good idea to just saddle up and ride.

Later on in the evening The Local Fire Marshall came down and closed the Park with the threat of even stronger wind gusts, and lighting, so about 7:30 or so Ian and I had to pack it in and boogie along with many disappointed patrons
Hopefully Saturday will be a better day for Leslie and I and this Great Event..
So that was it for Friday.
Saturday at @ 12:00 as I was getting ready to leave & I looked out back and thought WOW what a difference a day makes :-)
The flag was hanging down today, nothing like yesterday when it was getting ripped to "Shreds" no pun intended..

When I arrived at the Lake the tent frame had survived the night but the tent fabric had came off so I had to reattach that but at least everything was ok.

The Lake looked much more welcoming than it did yesterday.

Got the basic setup done and I had "Bessie" standing guard.

Even though it was a better day today the wind gust's early forced me to anchor down everything like table talkers etc or they kept blowing over.

Work/Snack Table.

Bean Bag Toss up and running

Lady with the cane was awesome, not her first dog and pony show..:-)

Typical Crowd all day.

Tons of Beer Tents and Food tents which I did not get a chance to visit.

Wood Chuck Cider was close by us

Getting Close to Sunset the Cabot Tent was in a perfect spot so we had lots of company .

Last minute before I left the house I grabbed a small lantern  and I'm really lucky I did, because there wasn't lighting close so it was much better than "cubing" in the dark.
At least you can see the cheese bowls and Leslie's smile.

The Sun heading out of town .

Great Band Playing "Josh Panda" Band
Not a very good video with my cheapy Camera but you get the idea

Getting Late so as everyone knows at these type of events things liven up quickly.
This group of young ladies were having almost too much fun.

As the lights were about to go out we gave our heifers away in a contest on who could name the Worlds Best Cheddar 1st  :-)

These young ladies were very appreciative of the gift from the Cabot Farmers.

So that was the Cabot Closing Ceremony so we're bagging it up.
